PadPack Radiographic Computer

RadPack is a pocket-sized computer, based on the Psion Organiser II, which has been specially programmed to solve the various calculations encountered in industrial radiography.

• It is an IQI sensitivity calculator, computing sensitivity for ASME British Standard and DIN wire-type IQIs.
• It is an IQI selector, showing you what model you need to achieve the required sensitivity.
• It is a ganima-ray exposure calculator for Iridium, Cobalt and Caesium isotopes.
• It is an x-ray exposure calculator for steel specimens.
• It calculates the safe-distance from an un-shielded gamma-ray source.
• It calculates image unsharpness and tells you what SFD to use.
• It also computes source decay, works out the inverse-square law and converts metric, imperial and other units.

The available programs, each identified by a three-letter name, are displayed as a menu when you switch on the computer.

You just select which program you need and the display prompts you to enter the information required.

RadPack allows you to work in metric or imperial mode. So whether you are familiar with metres and millimetres or feet and inches, the computer is easy to operate.

You can switch from one mode to the other at any time you wish.

The x-ray exposure calculator is easily calibrated for your own particular needs.

Calibration can either be from a couple of step-wedge exposures, or by taking readings from a reliable exposure chart.

Then the chart can be fine-tuned to provide accurate results.

The unsharpness calculator takes account of film unsharpness.

Once it knows how much geometric unsharpness you can tolerate, it tells you the minimum SFD you can use.

Or it will calculate the total unsharpness for a given set of conditions.

The maximum dose rates for safe-distance calculations are set to current recommended levels, but can be changed to suit particular circumstances.

RadPack comes complete with battery and leather case.

The Psion Organiser is a powerful pocket computer in its own right and all its features are available in addition to those of RadPack.

There is a clock that keeps accurate time and has an alarm facility.

There is a diary for recording appointments and an alarm that sounds when an entry is due.

The Organiser is a calculator with ten built-in memories.

It is a computer that allows you to write your own programs.

You can store data and information records, such as names, addresses and telephone numbers.

Additional accessories include:

• additional datapacks for extra storage of information
• mains adapter (240v AC)
• printer
• communications link to printers, computers, modems and other devices (RS232)
• datapack formatter, allowing you to clear all information from datapacks, leaving them blank for re-use a range of applications programs and utilities
